Another life cycle to investigate today. 🐣 🐥
Some of your children will have seen the chicks/ducks recently so this should be really interesting for them

👶🏻 Use rubber ducks or puppets to sing 5 little ducks went swimming one day. You could hide the ducks and make them reappear to help with object permanence. There are good DIY wooden spoon puppet tutorials online too. Have fun at bath time with your ducks. You could make an egg / nest / chick / feather treasure basket with the resources available in supermarkets for Easter.

Here’s a video of a chick hatching to get younger children inspired. You can use lots of mathematical language such as inside / outside / under the shell and small bigger biggest as the chick grows. It is the season for nest building for birds, leave some nest building supplies outside for them (show them how to use scissors to shop the bits up small)

🧑🏻👱🏻‍♀️Older children could investigate how long it takes for eggs to hatch and what the chick looks like inside the egg each day. You could also teach them about how important it is to make sure the eggs are kept at the right temperature in the incubator – this also can help as a simple explanation as to why some eggs we eat and others contain chicks if you don’t want to go into all the details 😬
If you have eggs in you can let them crack one and cook for their lunch

💪hook a duck – use twine or pipe cleaners to make hooks on your ducks and a coat hanger to hook them. You can also use a sieve to scoop plastic eggs from one container to another.
