🏠⭐️ Something to try at home ⭐️🏠

“Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed." - Maria Montessori.

We often underestimate how capable our little ones are. That combined with seemingly always being in a rush, often leads to us doing a lot of things for our children. Not because they can’t do it but because it’s quicker and easier!

Here is little Hattie from our Brockhall Nursery. She’s just turned 17 months and has been practicing putting on her own coat since she could walk at 10 months. And last week she finally cracked it! The joy on her face when she mastered it herself was priceless and the sense of pride and satisfaction unmeasurable.

By just giving her the option to do it herself and allowing a little extra time for her to practice before needing to leave. A reminder of "Hood to the toes, arms in the holes and over your head!" was all it took for her to remember the steps needed to complete the task independently

❗️Try it at home❗️
So next time you catch yourself doing something for you child and ask yourself, “Can my child do that by himself/herself?” Think about letting them have a go, or providing the tools they need to carry out the task independently.

When you see the look on their face of “I did it!” it will be worth it ❤️
